Hysteroscopy

A thin viewing tool, called a hysteroscope, is inserted into the vagina and gently moved through the cervix into the uterus. With a special light and camera attached to the hysteroscope, a doctor is able to see the specific areas on a video screen. A hysteroscopy is a relatively simple process that is done as an outpatient procedure. Because a hysteroscopy allows doctors to view the lining of the uterus, they are able to make a more specific and reliable diagnosis. This procedure can also be used operatively to treat fibroids, polyps, and more if needed.
