Endometriosis is a painful disorder in women where tissues that normally line the inside of the uterus grow outside the uterine wall. In this disorder, the displaced endometrial tissue continues to act as it normally would by thickening, breaking down, and bleeding with each menstrual cycle – yet it has no means of escaping the body, becoming trapped. Surrounding tissues and organs in the pelvic region can become irritated and develop adhesions. Many women with endometriosis find that during their menstrual cycles, the pain can become debilitating; and for some, fertility problems can also develop. Fortunately, effective treatments are available, and Marietta OB-GYN Affiliates, P.A. provides endometriosis treatments for the residents of Marietta and the surrounding areas.

Treatments include medications and in some serious cases, surgery.
