Getting To Know Your Breast Well

Knowing your breast well will help you determine when they done seem the same, which could be a sign of breast cancer. Estimates of breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, predicts that almost 41,000 women will die of breast cancer this year. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.

Early detection of breast cancer gives you a better chance of successful treatment. Regular mammograms and other screening tests are vitally important for your survival should you get breast cancer. You should also be monitoring your breasts at home to ensure early detection. In order to examine your own breasts, you must first get to know them so you will be able to detect right away when something is abnormal.

Did you know that to find a counterfeit dollar bill, you must first know what a genuine one looks like? This process takes time and familiarity. Mastering the look, feel and size of an actual dollar bill is the best way to discover when one is fake or abnormal.

The same idea applies to discovering if your breasts are abnormal, potentially due to breast cancer. You must get to know what your breast feel like, look like and the size of them. You can do this by touching your breasts often to see what they feel like when they are healthy. Don’t shy away from looking at your breasts in the mirror on a regular basis. Know the shape, color, size and direction of your nipples well. Consider how your breasts feel as well. If you experience abnormal swelling, pain or thickening these are symptoms that something could be wrong.
