A woman is not typically diagnosed with infertility unless she has the inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term after 12 consecutive months of trying to conceive. It is important to note that male infertility is as common as female infertility, and the issue of infertility should be dealt with as a couple first. Men can visit a doctor called a urologist who will give them a physical exam, discuss any sex issues, and do a sperm and semen analysis. It is important that not all of the burden be placed on the woman or simply assumed that the issue of infertility is with her.
