Wellness Exams

Marietta GA Gynecologists

According to Benjamin Franklin, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This adage could not apply more accurately than to your health. Preventative care is your best defense against threatening conditions, and it allows your doctor to detect any warning signs of disease. Women’s wellness exams are done all over the world in an attempt to save lives by staying ahead of danger.

Understanding the importance of annual women’s exams is easy. Yet when it comes time to ensure that these appointments are on your schedule, it may be more difficult. Women are infamous for putting others first and neglecting their health at the expense of others. There are husbands to care for, children to take to appointments, aging parents to tend to – the list goes on and on. Yet, when it comes to keeping just one appointment a year that can potentially save their lives, women often cancel it.

At Marietta OB/GYN, we get it! We’ve never had a patient run into our office due to her excitement over her gynecologist appointment. The thought of getting fully undressed, putting on a paper gown, and being examined “all over” is enough to make anyone want to cancel a wellness exam. However, our entire staff wants to encourage you to make your health a priority from now on. Our doctors, nurses, technicians, and office staff will go out of our way to make you comfortable because we grasp the importance of your health.

During a wellness exam, you can expect the following:

  • Your blood pressure will be checked, and your iron level will be checked with a finger prick.
  • You will give a urine sample.
  • You will discuss with the doctor any symptoms or concerns that you have.
  • A physical exam will be done of your breasts, pelvic area, and genitalia; this will include a pap smear. (This portion takes only about 3 minutes).

Women’s wellness exams can be life-saving appointments. Tens of thousands of women have been notified of serious concerns, including breast cancer and cervical cancer, as a result of keeping this simple appointment. Your health is worth it. Please contact Marietta OB/GYN today to schedule an appointment for your annual wellness exam. Being proactive about your health is the greatest thing you can do for yourself. It is not selfish – it is giving yourself and your loved ones a long life to enjoy.
